Tottenham Hotspur ready to push hard to sign former Chelsea star

Tottenham are moving quickly in the market after a significant change to their attacking plans, with TeamTalk reporting that Christian Pulisic has been the subject of enquiries as the club reshapes its shortlist before Tuesday’s deadline.

The backdrop to this is clear. Spurs had been ready to invest heavily in Cody Gakpo, with the report stating Tottenham were preparing to spend “in excess of £70million” on the Liverpool forward. That route now appears closed, after Gakpo “has changed his mind about moving to north London”, with the Dutch international said to be prioritising Manchester City if Liverpool sanction an exit.

That development has forced Tottenham into a faster reassessment of the market. Pulisic is now one of the names under active consideration, and from Spurs’ perspective the logic is understandable. The 27-year-old offers top-level experience, tactical flexibility and reliable output, with TeamTalk noting he has produced “a combined 55 goals/assists in 100 Serie A games for Milan”.

There are layers to the situation at AC Milan. Pulisic “is understood to remain part of Ruben Amorim’s long-term plans at AC Milan”, even after being left out of the starting line-up for the opening two matches of the season. That detail is important, because it suggests Milan are not actively pushing him towards the exit.

The report adds that the decision around his recent bench role is “partly connected to managing the 27-year-old after he suffered a microfracture of his leg at the World Cup”, which softens any suggestion that his standing has dropped sharply. Even so, interest is building. “A number of clubs have now made enquiries about Pulisic”, and Tottenham are among those checking whether a deal is feasible.
