Newcastle United are among the clubs to have held talks over a move for Leon Goretzka, with the experienced Germany international emerging as one of the most eye-catching free agents available this summer. According to TeamTalk, Aston Villa are also in discussions as the 31-year-old weighs up where to take the next step in his career.
What gives this situation real intrigue is the player’s apparent preference. Sources state that England “remains top of the player’s list”, and that he has “decided that’s where he would like to play next”. For Newcastle, that is the sort of detail that immediately sharpens attention. When a footballer of Goretzka’s profile actively wants the Premier League, the competition becomes fierce, but the opportunity becomes more real too.
